Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ [Review + Giveaway]

I'm not a loyal user of the old Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (DDML) but I'm no stranger to it either. There was a period of time where I was diligently into using Clinique's 3 Step Solution which includes the old formulation of the adored by many yellow butter. It worked for me for a while but as time passes my skin demands to try other things. So I stopped using Clinique for a very long time.

Now, Clinique has finally reformulated one of their best sellers after 6 and the half years in the making. The yellow lotion never had any makeover since the first launch in 1968. I guess they finally saw the light and realized that people's skin is already 'dramatically different' after 45 years.

So What's New?

Best selling or not, it's essential for brands to keep updated with the consumer needs. Clinique added a '+' on their new dermatologist-reformulated lotion and state that it will deliver even more dramatically different results. It also claims to give 54% improvement in skin's barrier strength in eight weeks and offers double the moisturisation levels for comfortably hydrated skin all day.

No surprise, the new ingredient added into the formula is Hyaluronic Acid, a famous ingredient known and proven to to aid skin when it comes to clinging to moisture. Besides that, Glycerin and Urea are also the other two new addition into the yellow butter simply because Glycerin helps the skin to attract extra hydration from the surrounding air while Urea works to mimic the function of healthy skin and a barrier repair product which prevents the skin from loosing moisture.

In a nutshell, the DDML+ is now not just a moisturizing lotion but also acts like a barrier to prevent moisture from evaporating from the skin.

What's Not New?

While there's so much going on with the formulation, the physical look of the product didn't move an inch. The whole package still looks and feels the same. The distinct smell of the original DDML is still noticeable and the yellow lotion is still awesomely thick for dry to dry combination skin, a little goes a long way. It is only lightweight if you use without greed. The only difference would probably to find this version absorbs faster into the skin upon application.

Even though you have oily skin, this will still work for you as the formula is aiming to protect your skin from the dry and horrible environment, you just have to pick out the formula for oily skin.

If you are wondering why sunscreen is not added, that's because the texture of the product would change and you will feel it to be heavier on the skin plus, you can't double it up as a night moisturizer. Thus, might as well investing in a sunscreen instead of needing to buy 2 different moisturizer for day and night that could probably cost a bomb.

I did not immediately change my moisturizer overnight. I started by replacing my night moisturizer to ensure that it doesn't react badly to my skin then only go full pledge as a day and night moisturizer. Seems to be working quite fine at the moment :)

Available at all Clinique counters for a price of RM68 (50ml) and RM145 (125ml)
